I have just relized this. I was so scared when I saw that. What does that mean? And I know I'm not going insane. My entire eye color was black. Not the white part of the eye of course.

Please, someone tell me what this is. I'm so scared and confused and worried!

I have sometimes light brown eyes in the day or sometimes dark brown eyes in the day. It varies. But I have never heard of seeing black eyes in the light. Which had turned back to light brown after 20 seconds had gone by.

Eyes are organs of vision that detect light. Different kinds of light-sensitive organs are found in a variety of organisms. The simplest eyes do nothing but detect whether the surroundings are light or dark, while more complex eyes can distinguish shapes and colors. The visual fields of some such complex eyes largely overlap, to allow better depth perception (binocular vision), as in humans; and others are placed so as to minimize the overlap, such as in rabbits and chameleons.

In the dark or nightime, your eyes dilate to absorb as much light as possible. Hence your iris, which has color pigments, are obscured by your pupils and appear black. During daytime, your pupils contract and your iris is more appararent.

Your pupils dilate in dark conditions to allow in more light. Also, the brown you see in the daytime is lightened by the sunlight. What's there to be afraid of anyway?

If you spend a lot of time out in the sun during the day, it will make your iris color darker in the evening or at night.

See your eye Dr. He/She should be able to presecribed or recommend eyedrops so your eyes won't change and to calm your nerves.
