I had to ask about that when I got my first wireless computer.
They told me, "Because your computer is unplugged." If you have a wireless on a network that is wired/wireless, that wireless one will have that message. It's nothing to worry about.

Shut down your computer, unplug its network connection. Wait 5 minutes. Plug back into the network and start your computer. It should work fine.

If you are using a router with wireless capability, another household can steal and hog the signal, even if you are connected via cable.
This used to annoy me to no end. Good thing I couldn't tell which neighbor it was that was stealing the signal. I would've been red-faced with anger and at their doorstep in a jiffy.

You're getting that because you're not connected to another home computer.
You can hide that.
Right click on startup bar.
Go to Properties.
Go to Customize.
Scroll to Local Area Connection, click on the arrow next to hit, choose Always Hide.
Click on Apply, then Ok.
That should stop it from popping up all the time.
If that doesn't help (which it should), contact your ISP & have them walk you though another route.
