how do we complete the following equations (an explanation plz)

co(h2o)6 2+ + cocl4 2-

and : cu(h2o)6 2+ + cucl42-

(six molecules of water with a 2+ charge. 4 molecule of clorine with a 2- charge)

[Co(H2O)6]2+ + 4Cl- ----> [CoCl4]2- + 6H2O

This is ligand displacement. The ligands coming in knock out the ligands already present.

The second equation balances the same way as the first.
