These guys are taught in DVDs and lecture series that to treat a pretty girl badly in a date will increase the innate attraction of the pretty girl towards the bad boy.

In his past, he probably witnessed a lot of men treating women badly. When you're brought up seeing something repeatedly in your life, you tend to do it, even though you may hate it yourself. Even if he loves this girl, he will still treat her like that. But just because he may really love her, doesn't mean she should stay with him. The cliche hope of "maybe he'll change" only works in movies and the chances of that happening in real life are very low. My advice: stay away from the guy. Don't let your heart completely block out your brain.
And by the way, guru has a pretty good point about the girl being "pretty".

A guy who treats anyone badly is rude, ignorant and possibly cruel. No woman should put up with this treatment, whether it is against her or anyone else she sees. It is far better to be unattached than to be in a bad relationship. Being in a bad relationship is like living in hell. The pretty girl can do much, much better and should kick his rude self out the door. And by the way, any girl is pretty -- in her own way -- if she focusses on being happy with her own life and activities, and enjoying her life in a positive way.

This will sound ugly.
A guy will treat a pretty girl that he is dating badly because he thinks that he has no responsibility. He will date her because he wants to get laid.
He doesn't break up with her because he wants to have as many opportunities to get laid as is possible.
To me, the more important question is why does the pretty girl keep dating the man who keeps treating her badly.

Anger, jealousy, revenge. There are so many reasons. The first issue is that different people have different ideals of what constitutes bad treatment.
Tolerating bad treatment is the larger issue.
Secondly, what does someone's appearance have to do with how they are treated. Does this mean that the unattractive and ugly can be treated badly but that the attractive and pretty should be treated well.

Don't let it bother you. They are actually fulfilling each
others needs. The guy gets off by being a SOB and
the girl feels comfortable in a dominating controlled
environment. Obviously they both are dysfunctional.

Power,control and insecurity
It is a sad situation b/c more commonly than not, the "girl" will also progressively try to be more "loveable" or start to try to "fix" or change herself to keep him. He will become more and more cold, distant and even abusive the more she trys.
Then
When she realizes that it is not working she pulls away and breaks up with him and then
as
if by
magic
he suddenly wants her back - desperately
Why?
because of power , control and insecurity
not LOVE

As a guess, he is used to seeing men, like a father, disrespecting women, like a mother. He would have been raised to think that was how REAL men treat women, like dirt.

because their jerks.Men who like you in life treat you with respect,not like crap...Since men want to look good with a pretty lady instead of the ugly ones,they decide to do that to image their selves not to hook up with them because of their personality.
