You probably need to clean them, or they may be getting infected. You can go to your Vet and get some ear cleaner,
it's called VET Solutions, good stuff.
Hope that helped some.

i have a little cocker spaniel with long floppy ears that never get air so when he gets a bath or runs into the lake they don't dry out so they get infected. the vet i used to go to always gave him antibiotic pills, antibiotic ointment, plus earwash to use 2 x daily for a week. it worked ok but was a lot of work.
but he's a cocker so this happens with these type dogs. next time he had smelly ears i had switched vets and the new one said most ear infections affect only the outer part of ear & oral antibiotics should never be used for that. he gave my dog some antibiotic ointment & earwash to use 2 x daily for 5 days. it worked perfectly. this new dr. is fresh from vet school perhaps has the latest information on this. but he also told me that if i can remember to put the earwash in before he gets a bath or goes for a swim - then directly afterward it would prevent a lot of these problems. i do this now & it works. but if sometimes i forget it won't be long before the smell comes back & i have to take him to the doc again. anyway, hopefully this will help with figure what to do for your dog.

Sounds like an infection. Probably yeast (yes I said yeast). You need to get meds from the vet to take care of it.Take that baby to the vet. You're supposed to clean your dogs ears regularly. You can get a solution from petco or petsmart, for regular cleaning.
