Yes, and if you use ISDN, you'll have up to 128kb, which is not too bad. (the rest of the world is a little bit spoilt you know)
I had it for years as a backup route for my ADSL at my office.

You can hook up a wireless router to any type of connection there is.

lv_consultant: Your suggestion is a bit of an overkill scenario. I do agree that this would be/is painfully slow though.

You can have a dialup modem inside a computer or an external one. Enable ICS on the system with the modem. Turn OFF DHCP at the wireless router since the ICS host (the machine with the modem installed) will provide DHCP anyway. Connect a standard Cat5e from the Network Interface Card of the ICS Host to the wireless router's WAN or Internet port.

It works. Problem is that the connection for all of your systems will be exceptionally slow. Think in terms of 52kb/s split 3 ways. 17kb/s is pitifully slow.

first you would have to have an external modem and a wireless router that supports RS-232 (serial) communications. it would be a complete waste of time. the maximum connection rate of 53.3 kbps is limited by FCC regs and even with a connection rate the actual data transfer rate would probably be closer to 12 kpbs.

It would not be worth the time. Your speed would bottle neck at your router and you will have more problems then actually having Dial-up

It would be hard and not at all reliable. If it is a MUST HAVE done situation, then yes it is possible.

With enough knowledge, yes, but the results are not worthwhile.
