Assuming the burn mark isn't too bad, you should be able to use a creme paste to remove the first layer of finish (And thus the burn mark). You can then replace the first layer of finish with a standard wood polish product like Pledge (Preferably with carnoba wax, etc.).
This is how I would do it when I owned a cleaning and restoration company...
Hope that helps.

Some black burns can be gently removed or at least lightened by gnetly rubbing with toothpaste on a soft cloth. Always rub with the grain of the wood. And if the colour is removed from the desk it can be touched up with a little matching shoe polish or furniture polish pen.
Hope this helps,

There is no way to get black burns off a wooden desk. You will need to sand it off. Good luck.

30 years in the past I basically positioned neat bleach down on wood draining boards. as we talk i might in all likelihood do the comparable yet basically scrub marks with a toothbrush soaked in a tiny quantity of thick bleach. no longer eco friendly i understand.

you can look into woodburning which ironically is a way to patch damaged wood surfaces or look into inlaid wood repair or sand the entire desk down evenly till all damage is gone

It's already damaged. Top needs to be stripped, sanded, stained to match, and refinished.
