Do you think women should be considered as minorities??

Until our numbers are more fairly represented in government/politics, in the workplace, etc., and we are no longer discriminated against, I think maybe women should still be considered a "minority.". However, if more women educated themselves in politics, and actually got out and voted, maybe we'd have a little bit less of a reason to really need minority status...we could affect real changes in laws and politics, with the fact that with our numbers, if we put our minds to it and agreed with each other on certain political issues, we could really have an impact. Of course, it is kind of unrealistic to think that even if every single woman voted that we'd all vote exactly the same way, yet I do think that if more women voted we'd definitely be taking more initiative in helping to solve certain inequality issues. Gaining more political power might go part of the distance to helping solve problems of institutionalized discrimination (and discrimination in other forms, perhaps), but it wouldn't necessarily be enough to stamp out inequality altogether. Who knows for sure though? We've never (as of yet) historically held that much political power. What I am suggesting, however, is that maybe if we unite on issues that affect us, and exercise our right to be politically acknowledged (by voting), maybe we can do something to change that.

Interesting question!

No, I don't think women should be considered as minorities. Usually, femininity is a trait that's suppressed, and so women as a sex are suppressed. Sometimes there's even gender apartheid, where the suppression is in law as well as society. It's not in the US, but in countries like Afghanistan it's definitely there.

At the same time, "minority" implies that there's noticeably less of one group than another, and the sexes and genders are pretty well matched in numbers. 1% or less isn't really that big a number, comparatively, even when translated into thousands, millions, or billions of people.

In some ways they already are. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regards women as a "protected " class when it comes to legal action by/against employers.
They are accorded more protection under the law than a man.

If you're bidding on a government contract, and your company is 51%-owned by a woman, then yes, your company is considered an MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) and you have a much better shot at getting the contract. If your company isn't an MBE but you can bring in an MBE as a sub-contractor, you go to the head of the line. Or that's the way it used to be when I was doing marketing for engineering firms. My boss at one of them also owned a general contrating firm; he set his wife up as the owner of the company so it could be registeed as an MBE. She had nothing to do with the business except on paper.

Legally we are a "minority", or we were. Write to your Congressperson if you don't like it.

I absolutely think not. Women are just as equal as men. I mean really...if there were never such a thing as women, the human race would have died out a very very long time ago because there would have been no women to reproduce. Women have just as many talents and abilities as men, so shouldn't they be treated as fairly as the men are?

That one is a tough one is say for the reason that women have fought so many yrs to not be in a group and to have their rights and to prove thst they csn do things on their own and with them being minorities then that is like saying ok look we need help when we dont. But on the other hand it would help us get jobs and for the ones who need help get it faster.

Women are minorities because women as a whole do not have as much wealth, power and prestige as men do.

No, that would be a false statement. Women make up the majority of the population.

Not if you used body size as a factor. God, the weight of the issue would definitely be against them. Oops!

As long as women do NOT earn the same wages as their male counterparts, we are a minority.
