the only way to get viruses is to download something and actually running it. As long as you look and click only, you will be ok.

seriously, learn about viruses, people.

YOU WON'T GET A VIRUS IF YOU JUST LOOK AT A WEBSITE.

You MIGHT get a virus if you download something and run it.

If you run something, you will know because windows will have a dialog box saying some program wants to run something.

Note to other yahoo answerers:
Please actually know something about viruese before you answer!!

Images and movies do not transmit viruses, so you can look at the pictures and watch movies without any harm being done. You can get a virus if you visit a site that has malicious scripts on it. Make sure you have a good anti-virus and firewall installed to help keep those nasty critters out of your computer.

Yes! If you click on the pictures, it will go to the site but will also give you an option to enlarge the selected picture. If the site spreads virus/ spyware from surfing that webpage, it can of cource infect your machine! Google have some security to prevent this, but don't totally count on it. This is called safesearch. This will filter explict pictures and text to prevent you searching sites filled with virus/ spyware. First, it would be advised to stay away from porn, and illegal stuff because it tends to be areas of Virus/ Spyware, and don't totally trust filterings. Go to sites you know it is safe, firewalls, and antivirus on, and your web browser updated to date will enhance your security and protection.

Mr. X has no idea what he is talking about.
Yes! - you can get a virus from a picture (especially porn) - Yes! - you can get a virus just by visiting a website. Anybody remember the super bowl site that was hacked last year?
Viewing porn will just about guarantee you getting a virus - because of the malicious intent of its visitors and the actual on purpose intent of the owners of the web sites.

Well, when you click on a picture on google pics, it opens up the website, but just has that banner on top with the picture on it, so you may as well of gone onto that website and looked at the picture instead of opening google pics. If you click on a pic and it is on a webpage with a virus, then yes, you can aquire a virus from clicking on the pic. However, if you right click the picture and save-as it, then you won't get a virus.

The search engines just look for whatever you put in search bar. In fact, they are not responsible for other websites and their continents since they aren't Anti-virus !
