There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep to yourself in the workplace. Your main goal is completing your work in a timely and professional manner. Just be a good "worker". That is, concentrate on doing your best while at "work". Those around you will soon get the message that the "work" is first with you and that you do not view your place of employment as fertile grounds for social contacts. Let them know that you have other friends and a life outside of the "work place". But mostly, stay busy and the day will come when they speak of you as a hard working, dedicated employee.

I was always a little different and my office was PLENTY clicky...(almost all women) and it was Government work to boot. When I wanted to be left alone, I just SNAPPED that I was suffering from PMS and that usually did the trick....except when it started happening twice a week.

If you have an office with a door, I would fart a lot, with the door closed...that way, when someone comes along to bother you, they'll get a whiff and beat feet outta there. Come to think of it, you don't even need your own office to do that!

Cliques are just one of those things. You can't please all of the people all of the time. Just smile, say Please and Thank You and smile a lot. If they're the jerks that you describe them as being, they're not going to change. But you can be a better person...just don't be a bitter person.

To be left alone , one needs to be a call center operator ( although you must deal with customers ) or something like that .

Not aware of too many jobs where one can be left alone ,
I never had one in 40 years but then again ,
I had higher paying jobs . ( I'd rather have a fat paycheck than be left alone )
Our tasks were very interactive with staff and customers , so to be "left alone " . . .
I guess we would have to take the day off .
