Not asking what you like, but how does pleasure exist? Is it just a bunch of chemicals, or does it have meaning?

All fine answers, but those that say there is meaning - what is that meaning? We experience pleasure as meaningful to us, internally. But, in the external universe, does pleasure still exist and have meaning?

Pleasure is an invention, like all the other words, of mankind. Pleasure is a word that evolves, without changing in essence; depending on the time and context is being used. It is a moment, a second, or several moments in our life that take us away from the world of the logic and reality to the unconceivable and uncontrollable world of happiness and excitement.
Pleasure… my mortal friend… is just a word to describe some stages of life that are out of ordinary (in other words extraordinary) and an excuse to get out of the normal routine.

You really have to ask 'What is Pleasure'?

Every living creature moves towards what it needs and away from a threat. Pleasure and pain are the (chemical if you like) feelings which create that motion.
It has the meaning of supporting life.

There is always a cognitive process in pleasure.

For example, you may enjoy a hug from a significant other. A hated family member or stranger may hug you. The sensory stimulation is identical, but you can experience pleasure in one and not in the other.

If this were truly a sensation/chemical issue, the hug would feel the same regardless of who provided it.

Something that makes me feel good. I'm sure there is a chemical thing going on, but that isn't the way I think of it. It can be a thing, person, feeling,a memory, a scent, an event. It is very positive and gives me this sense of well-being.

without pleasure there is no pain, so yes it does have a purpose. If you dont have one you can not know what the other is, for instance if you never felt joy, you would never know you were in sorrow.
