My husband is very picky about what I can and can't listen to. He won't let me listen to his stereo system unless he is home and when he lets me drive the car he takes out the fuse for the car radio so I can't play it. Also, he said I can't listen to music on headphones because he has to hear what kind of music is playing. He told me there is a lot of bad lyrics and doesn't want me being corrupted by them. I understand that but how can I convince him that I could be trusted with my own little portable cd player? I mean he knows the CD's I have and has bought me most of them. Its just that sometimes I would like to listen to music if he is taking a nap or something. I'm thinking he might think I could sneak a bad CD behind his back and play it but I am not like that. I respect his authority over me and would never do that. Any suggestions on how I could prove that to him?

hey i just have one question for you, what did he do thats making him think that you are doing the same things. Like you said he talks to his mother so why cant you talk to yours, this is you letting him get away with things and the more he acuses you of things the more control he has over you cause he knows you will do everything for your familly and this is how he controls you, and his mother is the one feeding all of this in his head so the one that shouldnt be talking to their mother is him not you. Other then that he has done something that he is reacting like this so so far you know he has another email, he is talking to people behind your back, and i am sure there is more to this story then this so i say you sit down your husbnad and tell him that if he doesnt quit bothering you over this things then you will just pack up and leave cause no one should have to go thru this cause how much more of it can you take before you start to hate him so if you want to stay together you beter starighten him out other then that he will push it until you cant take any more of this, and you will do this whole part later on and i think its better to know something sooner then later. hey you guys are married so i say if you dont want problems and it looks like they are coming from both of your fammilies i suggest eithr both of you talk to your famillies and work together as a couple to overcome them or if you cant then both of you dont talk to them but like this its not an equal marrieage so unless you want things to get worse you better get your spine into this cause your husband and i am sorry to say this doesnt have one

please tell me that you're joking. No person should exert that kind of control over another. Do you not realise that women are actually allowed to have their own life "even" when married? Your husband should not have "authority" over you at all. Man, hearing women talk like this makes me SO upset. Please gain the self esteem and self assurance to either stand up to this neandrethal or leave him. There actually are men out there who will respect you and trust you and not do anything to try to control you. Good luck

I don't think you should have to convince your husband of anything other than you are an adult capable of making decisions.
I don't know how you would convince a controlling person to do anything.
