When did you fail to hear an echo when you personally heard a duck quacking? If never then you probably just read about it in Wiki and that is not always a reliable source.

When God was creating the world in 7 days the ducks were being assholes . You know there just wagging their stub of a tail in the air and god got ticked off and took away they're echoing powers. Its been 6000 years and until ducks are making a living(Aflack)
