Clarinet or sax. I like the sound of the sax better...they have such a cool sound, but I've heard playing clarinet is easier. Here's another suggestion...if you want something easy, try playing the flute. It's pretty easy to learn. If you have a hard time getting sound from it...try this. Have you ever blown over the top of an empty bottle and made noise come out? You essentially do the same thing playing the flute. That's how I've always explained to people how to play. Have fun in band.

Don't start with oboe. Switch to it after playing clarinet or sax for awhile because the double reed is hard to get used to. As far as choosing sax or clarinet, it's really all about what style you like to play in. If you want to later be in a jazz band, you might want to go with sax. If you want to play more classical/traditional music, go with the clarinet.

Clarinet is what you are supposed to start on, then progress to sax, then Oboe, which is supposed to be one of the hardest instruments in the world to play. But start with the clarinet if you want to get good fast.

I started out on clarinet and also did the bass clarinet. I had a lot of fun with it! Never tried the oboe, but a friend tried teaching me the saxophone once. I recommend picking each of them up, feeling the weight in your hands.

each tool needs time and dedication to income. It basically takes practice. I taught my little sister a thank you to play the flute, which I performed for 4 years, and he or she picked it up truly speedy. i actual do no longer understand something on the subject of the sax or clarinet however...

Clarinet is probably easier than the other two - I played the clarinet for a few years, but I gave it up...I found it quite difficult. I am sure the oboe would be more difficult - not quite sure about the saxophone, though.

...yes, but Sax and Clarinet players are a dime a dozen. You will be much in demand as an Oboe player...and yes, it is tough. Give it a try.

the clarinet sounds AWFUL unless you are really good at it. oboe is hard. i say go with sax. my friend tried flute for 3 months and was terrible at it, then tried sax and was able to play 5 notes in one day! so i think you should go with sax, but if you really want to play clarinet, then why not? go for it!

I personally wouldn't go with any of those- the cost in reeds will break you! If your heart is set on woodwinds, go with flute- you almost can't make a bad sound on a flute, even as a beginner.
