I've heard people say "because Notre Dame thinks their better than everybody else". I don't think that is true because I've met many graduates who are very conservative and modest about ND and their sports programs.

People tend to hate them for the same reasons they hate the Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys. Their large fan base ensures they get their game on TV every week and a higher bowl than they usually deserve. Whenever a team has a lot of fans they will also have a lot of enemies.

i traveled to watch UNC play Notre Dame last season and the fans at Notre Dame are a class above everyother school. if you every get the chance to watch a football game at Notre Dame you'll understand what i'm talking about.

they bite off more they can chew
Every1 knows that this is a rebuilding year and what do they do? schedule 4 top 25 opponents and 5 more good teams i actually wudnt be surpsied if they went 1-8 first 9 games
ND is sorta like the yankees of college football if u dont have a team or local team sucks cuz ur not a true fan wut to u do? u go root for ND or the yankees

I like Notre Dame...If I did not go to the college I already graduated from, I would have considered it...So I'm not a Basher...
I think that people hate them because:
1) they have their own TV network and don't have to share their money with the other teams in a conference
2) N.D. does NOT have a conference to share revenue with
3) Catholics have a tendency to have this "Holier than thou" attitude (Note: I AM Catholic, so I'm not biased)
4) They have a great history of Football
5) Most people hated the movie Rudy, about some scrub who got his butted kicked everyday in practice...If he never went to N.D., do you think someone would have made a Movies about that Bum???

i personally think you would find far more people out there who say they hate other football programs other than notre dame. there are far more michigan haters out there, far more ohio state haters out there, than there are ND haters. ND always plays tough opponents the entire season, so they actually can be proud of things, whereas other teams schedule a few cupcakes to pad the record.

Listen to their graduates.
It's way too easy to use the word hate. Especially in the world of sports.
They have remained an Independent for quite some time and play a fairly tough schedule each year.

Those are the idiots who think ND is overrated...If they think ND is overrated, maybe their team should have as tough a schedule(the toughest schedule in the country, btw), and see how their team does...

No offensive touchdowns yet this year, That has a big part of it covered right there. They have a garbage football team right now, and will have to rebuild, and join a conference.

Because even when they have a mediocre football team, they always seem to finagle their way into a bowl game, while a more deserving team has to take a lesser bowl.
