I find that today's dentist are much, much better then when I was growing up. Thanks to those bozos in the past I have lived with this dread about dentist. But today's dental industry is better fit to cope with those like me and our fears. Lastly, today we have more women that are entering the dental field as Doctors of Dentistry. Women have an advantage over men. Women have smaller hands and they are leaps and bounds more understanding and compassionate for their patients fears of pain. Male Doctors still lack compassion.

My aunt was my dentist until I got married. She was absolutely wonderful. Dentists today are good too and they have some new advances that make the whole ordeal much easier. My daughter just had dental implants. They certainly werent around when I was growing up.

There are some good ones and some horrible ones. You can almost tell when you first meet them. The ones who act lazy and step slowly... terrible. I finally found a great dentist; he is proud of his work, even artistic about it; he has a twinkle in his eye and a quick step that shows he is eager to please. He has had to fix stuff that our prior dentist screwed up, ie: crowns that won't stay on until he fixes them, etc.

It is much better now. My dentist does painless dentistry which wasn't possible 10-20 years ago.
