not only should you keep them but most dentists refuse to pull them if there is no problem.

I have no dental insurance either. I got all my wisdom teeth in during my early and mid-twenties. I just had the 1st one pulled about 3 years ago because the dentist said it wasn't worth saving since the cavity was so big. It's felt like I've had a hole there ever since--weird feeling, and I changed which side I chew on.

The dentist told me to have the other one pulled within a year since the opposing tooth was missing, but I haven't done it yet, and it seems fine to me for the moment.

The other side, he told me needs to have the wisdom teeth pulled also since they are so close to the next teeth and it's hard to floss.

I don't know whether I will let him take them out or not. They are designed to be there, are they not? So, without pain or any problems, I would say just keep them!

I think a dentist would need to take an x-ray of your jaw in order to be able to know whether your wisdom teeth need to be pulled out or not. Even if they don't bother you (mine didn't either), they could be growing in the wrong way or occupying too much space in your jaw. In my case, one of my wisdom teeth had already begun to develop a center of inflammation and I didn't even realize it - not one bit of pain. My other wisdom tooth couldn't be cleaned properly (because it was just too far back in my mouth) and would certainly have started to develop caries and eventually decay. So I had all of my wisdom teeth pulled out last year - within five minutes, absolutely painless, no trouble at all.
I admit though: It was about 15 years ago when the dentist/s told me that I would need to have my wisdom teeth pulled out, so I really postponed this quite a long time.

There can be serious downsides in having one's wisdom teeth removed, namely a) As a result of this unnecessary surgery, there can then be too much room in one's jaw and one's formerly well-positioned teeth can then move around and become dreadfully misaligned. This happened to my sister, necessitates chronic dental intervention and was just a ploy by a dentist w/ no morals to make more money off her in the longterm, in my opinion. I am a huge believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." b) You can also end up w/ a condition called dry socket, which, while not permanent is IMMENSELY painful while it's going on. I don't, can't and won't EVER recommend unnecessary surgeries. Avoid these at all costs. Life is expensive and painful enough without them.

Pulling out wisdom teeth without reason is not a sign of wisdom.

If they are not bothering you the only other thing to look at is crowding. If they don't have room they will push on your other teeth and they may become crooked. Are they already all the way in? if so then it should not be a problem.

If your mouth is big enough, you keep your teeth clean, and aren't having any problems... don't worry about it.

Most people have them taken out because their mouth isn't big enough, and the teeth end up coming in impacted. Sometimes wrapping around the nerves.

No it's not necessary to pull them out, but just because they arent bothing you now doesn't mean that they wont bother you later.

If there is no problem, then leave then in.

Many people never pull them out, because they are not bothering them.
