Site advisor of course sends data from your computer to check against the database on the McAfee servers. Probably some record is kept to assist in updating the database. The question is whether anybody looks at the data or is it all automatic; in brief do you trust McAfee? I do.

This is one "Mcafee" product I really like. I've used it for what seems like forever and watched it's data base grow to encompass 99% of all web sites and you can trust the advice it gives fully.
It's a great learning application for children and the less experienced computer user.
It's free and there are versions for both "Firefox" and "Internet Explorer".
IMO... it's a very useful tool.

I've got that notice too. I think McAfee needs to change its policy for Site Advisor, thats all.

Its a safe product to use. It warns you for bad websites. As said, green = safe, yellow = caution ( namely spam emails when you enter your email address, but no viruses or malware ) and red = unsafe websites ( downloads are filled with malware and billions of spams ).

I've been using it for awhile and I would reckon its a wonderful product.

I had a look at the site and it looks to be ok.

Mcafee is a top name in security software.

Too many programs running will eat up a lot of RAM.

I only use Avast (free edition) for Virus removal and Ad-Aware 2007 and Spybot search and destroy for Spy Ware.
AVG antirootkit for root kits. Except for Avast, these programs don't use any RAM until you click on them.

For Firewall I use - Vista Firewall Control - on Vista. This is a 3rd party firewall that works with the Vista Firewall and makes it easier to use.

Using Sygate personnel firewall on XP.

I been using it and it has been fine. It just warns you of bad websites. It shows green for safe, yellow for caution, red for bad and white for still needs testing. I've found it quite good. I dunno if it spies on you or not. It doesn't say it does and I wouldn't have thought so. Mcafee are usually very good.
