I was just listening to the radio and heard Eminems "Real Slim Shady" and the following lyrics are said:

"And that's the message that we deliver to little kids
And expect them not to know what a woman's clitoris is"

But they had bleeped out the word "clitoris." Is this correct? Is "clitoris" considered vulgar or derogatory like the words b****, f*** and s***?? Its the technical term for a part of a womans body. I could understand if they said p***y, but I dont see how the term was derogatory that made it nessiscary to bleep.

Another one is Sean Kingstons "Beautiful Girls" The chorus goes:

"You make me suicidal, suicidal, when you say its over."

But they bleep out the word "suicidal." I understand that suicide should never be condoned, but is it glorifying it the fact that it is in the song? Is this one derogatory as well?

I agree that the censorship is becoming ridiculous. I feel that more and more irresponsible parents are trying to blame things other than their parenting for reasons why their children act the way they do.

In nature (ie, every other mammal other than us), giving birth is a peaceful thing. For humans, it's very stressful, and every moment with your child after that is stressful. Instead of giving in to what is natural, we follow society's standards and influences, and today that society says "blame other things". If parents disciplined their children instead of throwing $250,000 sweet 16s, words like 'clitoris' would not need to be censored.

That's the good old PMRC at work! Add to it the Religious groups & the Politically Correct groups & what we have here is a failure to communicate. Why? Because parents seem to be out of touch with reality & they (many, not all) expect everyone else to shield their children from so-called "derogatory words & statements"! It's a shame that the word NO can't be used when a parent wants to use it. I think it is also on the list of words that kids can't hear on a recording! I guess if you want your music on a local free radio station, then the bleep is gonna superceed the actual words of the song if someone has placed it on the OFFENSIVE LIST! I'll bet that if they would have said "private parts", it would have been left in! That's a term that all schools use. It's sad that the actual words can never be used! Perhaps that's why the children are so "in the dark" when it comes to their personal bodies & abuse from strangers!

and its not like kids dont know those words too, i've seen 4th graders know all those words, but really its not terribly bad, a kid most likely wont know what clitoris is, but they might search it in which case is bad

Quite frankly, if you don't like it, then listen to a different radio station. There is NO LAW that forces a radio station to censor what they broadcast. However, their audience DOES force them to censor (or to not censor) their broadcasts.
