We're a nation of dissenters that is the basis of our existence. When we are no longer able to dissent is the day we cease to be a democracy and America.

ANY politician is a pathological liar and this shows it. America is the nation it is because of dissent. If we are unhappy with how America is between elections how else do we voice our opinions? Where do we go when we can call Washington and get long wait times and a computer voice that says that there are a lot of calls and to call back between the hours of 8 and 4 and it is ALREADY between the hours of 8 and 4? Dissent is what has made America different and that it has stood the test of time - heck, we are STILL here after 231 years. If Thompson said that dissent has weakened America, then he isn't much different than the clown we have in the WH now. I think thosewho are considering this clown need to rethink their choices for voting in November 2008

I think we better recall what US did to Iraq before in particular to the topic of mass destructive weapon. Later, they found nothing relating to the MASS. I think it is what they god damned politicians playing the repeative games to fool the Americans again and again. We once said that the Iraq oil contracts were awarded to France and Russia and made American oilmen very jealousy. That could be quite true, too. The whole damn conspiracy is just for the ******* money, particulary the stock market prices of petrol ups and downs that made Dick Cheney and his wife super rich. Weapons sales make politicians rich, including China , US and France. Dissent is inevitable in politics and even religious doctrines. That's why republicans and democrats exist in US forever.

He is trying to keep the fear campaign going...

In other words - Don't question the government.
Do as I say.
Believe that you have an enemy in foreigners.
And don't elect a democrat because on some level, they believe in peace... and they are stupid for it and will be killed by terrorist "friends".

Your clues that you are listening to a fear campaign:
1. It says Fox in the corner of the screen.
2. It has the law and order guy in the center of the screen.
3. The crawl at the bottom is talking about AIDS and criminals and blacks and gays... (nice little associations...)
4. The "liberal guest" if one is available, is a shallow idiot who is paid to be such and never makes any good arguments.
5. There is a commercial for headache medicine or anti-depressants right after the broadcast.

The most difficult thing for Americans to reconcile about the "war on terror" is that our government has found it necessary to subject Americans to surveillance while at the same time the enemy is keepting tabs on us as well. OBL does not have entire countries behind his effort but he also doesn't seem to have any dissenters. I think its time to zero in on OBL and break up his training camps. Why isn't this being done. Maybe people should dissent on the apparent missing element on the war on terror. Getting the terrorists.

If all the American public does is gripe and complain, then this weakens our society. We enjoy the freedom to voice our opinions. But, we also enjoy the freedom to participate in civic affairs. Being passive is very detrimental to our progress. We need action and unity, not complaining and caring only about our own interests. We Americans should set the example to the world on improving our communities, our countries, and the world as a whole.

President Dwight David Eisenhower, a TRUE Republican said;

"Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion."

Mr. Thompson, a less than mediocre legislator and only fair actor apparently thinks his opinion is better than one the leading military minds of the 20th Century and our most respected Republican President in the second half of the century.

Apparently, Mr. Thompson would like to have a country like the USSR, Red China or Nazi Germany where dissent was not allowed.

Don't worry about what he says....after the New Hampshire primary, Fred will be through as a presidential candidate. His will go into the history books as a campaign worse than John Glenn's 1984 presidential stumble and collapse.

He's implying that you should be sheep.

To dissent means to differ in opinion or feeling. Dissent = strength. You will pay a price if you follow the government blindly.

President Theodore Roosevelt said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

Fred Thompson has never been known for his intellect
