I don't know much about your credit history, where you live, or even why you are thinking about buying a Taurus.
1) In any case, credit unions are more likely to make that kind of loan. In Orange County, CA the rule for joining a credit union is "you have to live, work or worship in Orange County".
2) Dealers usually have a program to offer credit but they increase the sale price. The difference is essentially an insurance policy against the possibility that the loan will default.
3) Contact places like Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Lutheran charities.
In Orange County, there are non-sectarian outreach charities which provide food to needy families. When someone donates a drivable car, they GIVE IT AWAY for free to people on their list. The problem is that you might have to wait awhile to get the free car.
4) The local salvage yard called Pick-Ur-Part has cars for sale. I remember seeing an '88 Toyota Camry in drivable shape for $1200.
5) Even if a used Toyota or Volvo costs a little more, the yearly repair and maintenance cost will be substantially less.
I bought my daughter an '88 Volvo 240 wagon for $1500. That was 4 years ago. The actual repair and maintenance bill has been less than $200 per year.
6) There are auction companies like http://www.generalauction.com/index.html .
I almost bought a Chevy Cavalier. I didn't get to drive it but it started easily and the air conditioner worked. The winning bidder paid $600. They sell fleet vehicles such as government agencies and utility companies would drive.
Many mechanics offer an "eBay inspection" for a nominal fee like $40. That way you know which problems will need fixing soon vs. problems that can be handled later.
Good luck,

Maybe your mother might. Other than that, you are probably out of luck on the cosigner. Since a cosigner takes on the responsibility of paying the loan if you don't, nobody with good sense will cosign unless they'd be willing to just buy the car for the person.
Good luck though - sounds like you have your hands full.

Almost sure that you might find every financial answer at: loanhome.info-
RE Where can I get a co-signer on a $3000 loan? I am DESPERATE! Have income to pay loan but no credit. PLEEZ HELP
I have found a car for $3000, with a GOOD CREDIT co-signer my payments would be under $100 per month. Check it yourself at Atchleyford.com then go to cars under $100 per month, it's the green Ford Taurus at $2990. BUT I can't find a co-signer, as my family lives out of the country. I need a car DESPERATELY. I need to get Autistic son to & from school, Elderly mother to doctors appointments etc. and not spending $20 on a cab to the grocery 4 times a month would be helpful as well. All this walking is killing me, I have severe arthritis myself. Does anybody know where I can get a loan with "decent" rates or a co-signer. Thank you all so much

if you have a checking account go to your bank. if not go to a local church and get help. they have community christian concern groups who help people out. here in Louisiana they have a place for poor people to buy cars and get financed. of course that is in new Orleans. good luck. it is hard to ask someone to risk their credit for you. even though you know you will make the payments they put their finances at risk. what is something happens you get so ill you have no money coming in. that is what happend to me and i ruined my co-signers credit and mine. i wish you luck and i feel for you.

If you need a loan, you can't afford the car. You can find serviceable transportation for under $1000.
