Why does it seem like everyone from my generation (I'm 13) hates our President, but the generation our parents are from love him? Is my world-view messed up or is this actually true?

When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross._- Sinclair Lewis, (It Can't Happen Here, 1935)

I am 45, I know that Bush is evil.

Democracy is a form of government where the citizens' preferences are paramount in adopting public policies and where people elect a government of the people, by the people and for the people. It rests on the rule of law, the decentralization and separation of powers, and the protection of fundamental liberties and individual rights. It is the antithesis of imperialism, fascism and all types of totalitarianism. A classic analysis of American-style democracy is Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America (1835).

I would be from the same generation as your parents, and I do not like him either.

In fact many people young and old do not like Mr Bush, or his policies.

Having said that, there are also a lot of people who do like him based on his beliefs.
Your world view is not messed up by any means, and it is good to see a 13 year old who takes an interest.

Good on you.

There is no wrong or right answer. It is how you view things and that is what matters. I listen to my children and their views on things and actually have conversations with them about their views on what they see in life.
Not everyone likes the president in the adult generation, but he could be worse. In your world, it is how you see it and how you would like it, and no your world-view isn't messed up. You have a right to your oppinion but when you come of the age to be able to vote, I think that you would make a good voter and see what we as adults see and choose the right choice for your generation comming up.

From the mouth's of babes come the truth...

Many of the people from your parents' generation had been duped into adopting the "New Conservatism" ushered in by the Reagan area as their philosophy.

There really was little substance in the dogma, except that anything liberal was bad; anything conservative is good.

However, your parents' generation still refuses to accept the fact that Bush is a loose cannon, and he has denigrated America's position in the world political forum. To admit they were wrong would be to admit their whole philosophy the last 27 years has been "Bogus."

Accordingly, it has taken the youth of America to see that the emperor truly wears no clothes.

...My parents dislike Bush, as do my many of my aunts and uncles. My cousins (12 and 15 respectivly) absolutely love him, so do my grandparents and most of my family living over in the East.

I'm not a teenager and I don't agree with his policies, either.

It does help that about 80% of teachers are liberal. But in my experience (I'm 23) most of my classmates were conservative and we had political discussions with our instructors all the time, I wasn't in standard public school though.

Adults have peer pressure, too. Some of us refuse to conform and follow blindly down the path King Bush has us traveling at the moment. Emperor Dubya is definitely naked!!

Younger people tend to be more open minded and liberal. Many colleges and universities are like that.
I like Colbert and Jon Stewart, they're open minded and smart.
Make your own ideas and be open minded. It's worked form me. Understanding my own limitations and the fact I can be wrong has helped me greatly.
