NO! Don't give sugar water to your little one, nor anything cold. [would YOU like 'cold' with a sore throat or something warm?] As an adult, you know that something warm sooths the throat. Get to your doctor!
In a pinch, you may call your pharmacist and ask the same question(s). They will provide the best answer[s] for you.
You "may" put a few grains of salt in some warm water in a bottle. That is equivalent to 'gargling'. Only a little bit of that water, i.e.: 12 tablespoons of water to a TINY pinch of salt. Do not do this very often; get that info. from the local druggist/pharacist, first!!
Lots of luck to you and the baby!

No. If anything, it'd aggravate it. Does sugar water help when you have a sore throat? Most likely not. You'd be better off giving the baby something cold to suck on--a frozen washcloth, or buy a popsicle maker and freeze water for the baby to suck. That'd be better.

How can parents help infants in pain?
* Hold your child—with as much skin-to-skin contact as possible.
* Distract your baby with movement, sucking, music, toys, talking, rocking or singing.
* Breastfeed—it may just be the perfect pain reliever [2], for simple procedures, according to a recent review of research studies [3]. Nursing your baby involves holding, skin-to-skin contact, sucking, and a sweet taste. These are all proven ways to reduce the pain a baby feels—combined in one convenient package.
* As an alternative to breastfeeding, give your baby a sugar solution (but never honey—it can cause botulism in babies under one year old) on a pacifier.
* Your doctor can tell you about proper dosing of acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) for your baby, or other medicines to help relieve pain.

If you think your baby has a sore throat take them to thee doctor and have them run a Strep test. All they do is swab the back of their throat and it takes just minutes for the results. Your baby's doctor can tell you what you can do for them.
