Okay, am I reading a plot into this that is not there?

There is a Mexican holding up a sign with something like 7.90 pesos. Then he holds up a sign with a different amount.

On the other side of the screen is a hispanic guy eating something from the McDonalds dollar menu. He is in a hammock and surrouded by flowers and blue skies. HE motions and invites the Mexican in.

The message is that the "dollar" menu is consistent and good. The IMPLICATION is that he is inviting the poor Mexican into our country to enjoy our consistent monetary system and our consumer products.

The next scene, the Mexican that just came in invites a women in who was doing the same thing with a sign. Again, this appears to be telling them to come on in, then to invite their friends and relative.

Has anyone else seen this? Are you getting the same message out of it?

Do you know where we can send an email to let McDonalds know that we don't like this message?

UGH!!

Ive seen it, and I did find it a bit offensive. Maybe mcdonalds was trying to make a statment like, "Hey we love immigrants!!! Come on over, the more the merrier" But there was no need to dis Mexico's financial situation. There was also no need to depict mexico as a Gruesome dump, Especially compared to the US, which according to the commercial has to be the happiest place on earth. Besides, The dollar does fluctuate in value as well. Im sorry, but compared to the pound or euro, The American dollar is worthless. This is definatly gonna strike up some controversy.

The commercial is tasteless...but Ill still be eating their delicious food. Maybe ill even take a trip south of the border to savor me a McMilanesa (im not kidding, it does exist)

Have not seen it, but it probably matches the average Hispanic sentiment. I don't have a problem with it, last time I got a good meal at McD's it was because they had 3 hard working Mexicans actually getting food served... while another half-dozen local white kids were on break, chatting with friends or just goofing off.

I think we'll see more advertising tailored to immigrants. This wasn't uncommon during pre WW2 days, but afterwards the economic boom created a huge mass market w/ common "American" appeal. As the mass market breaks down we'll see more niches... and Mexican money is still money.

I haven't seen this. . .I doubt McD's has a plot to invite illegals into this country. . .They don't need an invitation and are coming in droves. . .Where I live it is predominantely hispanic so peso signs are everywhere. I'll pay more attention to the ads for McDs.
I don't need to boycott McD's. There food is so tasteless I never eat there.
