you should get a brazilian wax.... i wouldn't suggest shaving but if you do make sure you use something to prevent razor bumps.... yuk.... good luck...

Shaving works well. You should first trim the excess hair with scissors or clippers, though. Remember that you can cause razor burn down below, so always use shaving cream and shave in the direction that your hair grows.

Waxing also works very well, and keeps the hair gone for about two-three weeks. BUT, this can be VERY painful, and it's not recommended to do by yourself. See someone who knows what they're doing.

Don't use things like Nair down there, because it can sometimes cause infection.

Shaving is easier and much more discreet if you are the shy type who doesnt want to expose your bits to a beautician. Yes it will probably grow back thicker but you just keep shaving and eventually you will have the confidence to go get it waxed when you are used to it.
