I'm working on a project and we have to show where we can find our assigned god/goddess in modern day. It could be anything that has to do with the words Athena, Minerva, owl, or olive tree.

Thanks in advance!

Nike sportswear has taken their name and their brand directly from the goddess Athena Nike (Athena of victory). Their slogan "Just do it", and their whole branding values of being the best and pushing yourself come from the character of Athena, who certainly would not have had any time for couch potatoes.

An obvious one, I know, but still important. Athens, the capital city of Greece, is named after Athena. She was the patron saint of the city. The fact that the city is called after her, and that it is dominated by her temple (you can see the acropolis from many areas in Athens), makes her more alive in modern Athens than any of the ancient gods, and give the Athenians an identity with the past that they are proud of.

I wonder can you use something like Virgin airlines. Athena was the Virgin goddess. I am not sure if teh Virgin in the brand is a reference to her, but it could be.

There is that clever owl in Winnie the Pooh stories.

Spiders. Athena was said to be the one who created the first spider. A young girl called Arachne thought she was better at weaving, and Athena hanged her in anger. She then felt sorry for her and turned her into a spider hanging from a web.

There is a picture of the scopes owl (this was the particular type of owl associated with Athena) on the modern Greek one Euro piece. It is a copy of an ancient Greek drachma.

Hope this helps

Think about what she stood for, find that in today's society and you will find her.
