I hated wearing them. When I was at my desk, it would always get stuck in my drawer or just plain be in my way.

EX-GOVERNMENT WORKER HAPPILY RETIRED 2 YEARS AGO.. I HIGHLY recommend it.... A bad day on Retirement is better then ANY good day at work..!!!!!! Just do NOT do what I did-------all my working life we look forward to retirement... I used to say---"with MY luck, I'll retire and shortly thereafter come up with some terminal disease or something".... sure enough----less then one year after I retired, I most certainly DID come down with not one but 2 terminal illnesses.... just my luck... However, since having heard the words from my doctors, I have come to a brand new meaning and appreciation of life... I have lived EVERY SINGLE DAY as the gift it SHOULD be...I get enormous joy over things that used to bug me.... and the sweetest sound I hear now is the sound of babies laughing.....preparing to die has taught me how to LIVE!!!!!

I'm retired, but I often wish that I was still putting on my uniform & ID badge, & heading off to my job at the prison. I had to turn it in when I retired. I was hoping I could have saved it. Oh, well, I have some great memories just the same. :)

The charity I am affiliated with makes us wear picture ID's.
I make sure they picture is good these days, because they took such a horrible shot one year, people didn't believe it was me.They said 'smile" and my teeth looked like a jack o' lantern, the color was off, it looked like my hair was brown, and they wouldn't let me back into the building (I was out on deployment at the time and no one knew me)

Still working, still wearing the ID around my neck. I do get sick of people talking to me and staring intently at the middle of my chest....I assume, charitably, that they are short sighted and are trying to read my name.

Not all Boomers wore name badges.

And not all Boomers are able to retire.
