I cant remember anything about this movie but what i think is the opening scene. its the main characters funeral and its winter and theres snow on the groung. ashes are thrown into the grave. the movie then goes on to show how it got to that point. It takes place in Europe around the same period as the movie Amadeus i think. This is driving me crazy, please help!!

Could it be Immortal Beloved? It stars Gary Oldman and is about Beethoven. Here's its imdb.com page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110116/. The movie opens with Beethoven's funeral and then goes back to tell the story of his life through the various women that loved him. It's a very good movie, even if it's not the one you're thinking of.
