if you don't drink enough water it is a more likely chance. because you are excreting waste for you and your baby your kidneys have a LOT more to filter and without an adequate water supply you could have major kidney problems which are a pain when you're not pregnant and a super pain when you are.

I had Kidney Stones with my first pregnancy.. I was 19 at the time. It is not extremely "common", but it does happen. With my other 2 pregnancies, I was much more careful to drink enough water and also lemonaid. The citric acid helps keep the stones from forming in the first place.

They are painful and difficult to treat during pregnancy because most of the easy treatments ( pain killers, muscle relaxers or even breaking them by ultrasound are frowned on during pregnancy.

Good luck.

I don't think it's common, but you can get kidney stones at any time. I had 2 so far & I am 20. I had one in April & another 1 month later. They are VERY painful & I would think it would be worse during a pregnancy because I am sure you can't get the good pain meds.
