i want to learn some newer songs on the guitar that arent THAT hard.

There are SO many popular songs that are easy to learn on the guitar. If you know four or five chords and you have a capo, you can play along with a LOT of songs. One that springs to mind is "Blowin' in the Wind". I would also recommend "Puff the Magic Dragon" and just about anything by U2 as very easy to play on the guitar. (In fact, I find some of U2's songs so simple that they often don't sound good when played on just one instrument.)

With these chords you can play many, many songs.
