Garments are not magical in any way, nor are they supposed to ward off evil spirits. They are given to us as a constant reminder of covenants we make in the Temple and have symbolic meaning for us. They also ensure that the clothing we wear is modest and appropriate.

It is a priviledge to wear the garment because it shows that the wearer is worthy, and is in a covenant relationship with God. It is not strictly true to call it underwear. Although it is worn under the clothing, I wear my regular underwear underneath, so really it's just an extra layer. I believe a lot of people wear it instead of regular underwear though.

You would not be able to get any. It is obtained through distribution centres on production of a Temple Recommend. And it's far cheaper to buy than regular underwear and, I've found, much better quality.

Lots of religions wear sacred or special clothing. Sikhs wear sympbolic underwear, and as another answerer has pointed out, Jews, Muslims and Christian ministers in certain denominations wear clothing which represents who they are and what they believe. We simply choose to wear our special clothing somewhere where it is not on display to the world.

The garment is simply a symbol of the covenants the Mormon has entered into. No Mormons believe they are megical, or have special powers. Some have told stories about feeling protected while wearing them, which is where this misconception comes from, but they are not worn for any kind of magical reasons. They are simply symbolic in nature. You can get some by joining the Mormon church and recieving you endowment in the temple.

They are not magic.
They serve a two fold purpose
one is to encourage us to be modest in our dress
and the other is to remind us of our covenants
You could get some for your self it would involve getting baptized into the church and then after a year (or more depending on circumstances) of faithful participation in the church, you can then get 2 separate interviews you will have the opportunity to enter into the covenants so that you may be able to get our "magic underwear".

The list of things you must do to be considered a faithful Latter-day Saint includes but is not limited to the following list. Given in no particular order

1. Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and strive to obey and follow ALL of his teachings.

2. Be willing to accept any calling given which could mean anything from a simple calling where you greet people as they come into the chapel to a calling that involves you quitting your job and serving the church for the remainder of your life with out pay.(as its the case with the Prophet and other General Authorities of the church.

3. Give 10% of your increase as tithing to the Church

4. Live the Word of Wisdom. (see the first link in my sources for details)

5. Support those whom the Lord has called to lead His church.

6. Pray to our heavenly Father every day.

7. Study the scriptures every day.

The list goes on but I believe that is enough to give you an idea of what is required for entry into the temple, which is what you need to do to get our "magic underwear".

Temple garments carry no magical power. The only power they have are to remind the pious who wear them.

As far as obtaining some, you can't just purchase them at Mormon bookstores as someone mentioned. You must hold what is called a "Temple Recommend". The first requirement (of many) is to be a member of the LDS church, so unless you seriously desire to join, and are prepared to spend at least a year preparing yourself for the temple, you won't get any garments.

Why do you care about our underwear? What do you think makes it "magic"?

Don't you think that "magic" is something that is relative to the person? Like, if you think it's magic, then it might just be magic. Shoot, go buy some Victoria's Secret or Fruit of the Loom, do some hoodoo voodoo over them and there you go, magic underwear.

Our TEMPLE GARMENTS mean something sacred to us. There's no magic. It's not unlike a Jewish man's prayer shawl, or a Catholic's rosary.

Mormons don't claim that their underwear is magic. try Superman's underwear. That seems to work.
