a theism is a belief in a god or gods who created the universe. Your second question is a bit more tricky, because people can't have just been born with the idea of a god, but as i do believe there is a highest power, perhaps not literally, i am going to leave that question open to other answerers.

Confusing Question.

If you are asking what is a theism? then the answer is a belief in one (or more) god(s). This may or may not have been created by man, according to your beliefs.

If you are asking what is atheism? this is the belief that there is no deity involved and that we are all there is. This was created by man because due to the fact that atheists believe there is no god, who else could have created it?

Theism is delusional and wishful thinking created by our primitive barbaric ancestors to explain the unknown universe around them. Since obsolete genes do not die overnight, we'll be seeing theists for some time to come. The development of the cerebral cortex is only recent-antropologically speaking (say within the last 100,000 years).

theism is the belief in a Divine source for creation. the dictionary term is Belief in God.

It is not a touchy subject, nor a sticky subject ... it is a man made word. It stems from the Greek word 'theos'.
