Value depends largely on the condition of the coin.

Your best bet would be to take your coin to a local coin dealer. They will be able to tell you more by evaluating the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.

You can also post pictures on this website (there are many coin experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):

Good luck!

At the present time, I doubt the coin is worth anything. As someone said, the marks were part of the EU money consolidation, and so now Germany uses the Euro instead. I imagine that most Germans have some Deutsch marks squirrled away just for old times sake. And, most of the GIs that served in Germany over the years probably have some old marks stashed too. Add tourists and foreign travellers, and there are probably a vast amount of d-mark coins (and paper for that matter) still in existence. Perhaps many years from now, the coin may find a niche market, but I can tell you, having served in Germany also, I've seen old german money for sale at flea markets (pre-dating the 1900's even), and they go very cheaply.
I have some old nazi money, as well as east german communist money, and maybe it will be sought after one day as an oddity as well. But I imagine there's alot of caches still for both nazi and communist money.
But, in the end, it doesn't cost to keep it stashed in a junk drawer some place for the next 50 years! You never can tell about coin collecting...

good luck

The 1980 German Mark was minted at several mints and will have a letter for that mint, I believe below the eagle. Looks like they are not rare or scarce from any of the mints. It is worth about .25 cents. The German Mark is no longer legal tender for Germany now uses the Euro. The time for trading them in has passed. They are made of copper-nickel and the lowest mintage was 8,540,000 from the Karlsruhe mint the mint letter is a G. You coin is listed as KM# 110

if it's a East German Mark it's not worth a whole lot. To tell an East German Mark it's made of Aluminium

Yes. 1 deutsche mark

Dude that is not even 30 years old. It isn't worth anything more. There are coins and bills over 200 years old in the world and they might be worth something but not yours.

If it wasn't for his bat mobi-i mean pope mobile he'd probably be arrested by now. He complains about the slightly unsatisfactory way the police dealt with the preists and mentions nothing on what they were there for in the first place. Child fiddling pedophiles in the catholic church should be placed way above all faith based respects.
