Well, yes and no.

King Solomon, according to current scholarship, was a purely mythological person who never actually existed; therefore, his "Magick Ring" would be mythological as well.

However, in Northern European lore, the ability to understand the speech of birds was considered a mark of nobility---it is recorded as such in "Rigsthula" in the *Poetic Edda* and mentioned in the *Volsungsaga* and in Procopius's *Annals.* It's entirely possible that these traditions and Solomon's ring both spring from a common Indo-European root.

It's also possible that understanding the speech of birds really IS an attribute of sacral kingship. I'm a pretty open-minded guy that way.

Certainly I believe it. There are many of us even today who speak with the birds and beasts, without the aid of a Magick Ring. We are the Picts. And it is part of our lore as well as the lore of Islam.
