I build musical instruments. I have built several dulcimers. Some flutes, zithers and slide whistles for my kids. I am working on a violin and I really want to build guitars and get good enough at it to someday put away my welding helmet forever.
You work should be your passion not just your job.

I used to collect and build tons of scale model cars - diecast and plastic, since im scarce on room inside, ive started buying/collecting more lawntractors. I get them used, and non running - i spend actually very little getting them back into running shape. I find it a challange to repair them.
My other hobby is creating a 60MPH lawntractor , sorta on a budget. The purchase price was $50 - i bot a 6" cast pulley -$20 - for the motor( still stock) and had a 4" pulley for the stock 6 speed trans- with a spare belt and a spare idler pulley already owned it ran in the 20MPH range- now with golf kart wheels ( $40 from a flea market), and tapered wheel bering hubs on the front spindles ( $25 a piece- needed 2) , its in the 30MPH range. With a full drivetrain changeout- probably next year ( engine, trans, ect- an additional cost of couple hundred , including motorcycle hydraulic brakes ) - im think 60 or more will be obtainable. So for $200, i had a basic setup- im thinking when its done itll be near the $500 total range. Cant even buy a decent go kart for that.

I enjoy coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost a lot. I can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination I'm in the mood for) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of half dollars or quarters are $500.
Once I get a box, I can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). I keep all interesting coins and try to fill holes in my coin book.
The coins that I don't want/need can be returned to the bank and put straight back into my account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that I don't end up searching the same boxes over and over). So most of my money goes back and I can then get another box.
Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, etc. There's always the chance of finding a real treasure!
