Its just a movie...dont be scared. Im sure you'll grow out of it. That movie is pretty strange, I hope you dont let it scare you!

Ask yourself what it is about the clown that frightens you. Is it really the clown that frightens you or is the clown the representation of all the fear in the movie? Remember, you are seeing the clown through a 2nd graders eyes. Ask your counselor if perhaps you should watch the movie again, in broad daylight and with adult support (and a great tasting snack!), so that you can see it now that you're much more mature. You've changed a lot over 6 years. I bet you'll be able to see the movie for the "Hollywood" it is. By the way, LOTS of people are afraid of clowns.

Imagine the clown doing something stupid and happy, so you can laugh at it instead of being scared of it. Picture it tripping and going "Ouch! That hurt!" and then singing. You will just be confused rather than scared! And I'm creeped out by "It" too. Just remember.....out of a million people, how many will be killed by a clown that has evil powers? Ummm.....none! So remember, it's just a movie, and as they said in the movie, children can only see "It". But you aren't really a kid anymore, so if "It" really existed...nothing would happen to you because you couldn't see him!

Hope this helps! :D

IT was an awesome movie, the cast of stars in the movie was equally as awesome.

Pennywise was an awesome character and leave it to King to come up with such a demented character, a clown of all things to scare the viewers...Of course IT wasn't a clown, but instead was a spider like creature.

I can't say that after watching IT I was terrified, but then, as a kid I loved scary movies, and the scarier, the better.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. It's because you saw it when you were too young. I saw "Jaws" when I was about that age because my older brother and sister were watching it and I'm scared of sharks. Even though I know the chances of getting bit are next to zero for most people.

That was a totally creepy clown. I read the book. It was a lot of fears in one, clowns, sewers, and monsters that pick on kids when their parents aren't around to help.

I'm sorry you saw it when you were that young, but it's normal that you feel creepy about it. When you get older the fear fades. I hope your counselor is helping you feel better.

I understand and sympathize. Just remember it is only a movie. A lot of people are afraid of clown for some reason. My little sister had a doll that was a red haired clown baby, and loved it so. She kept it, but when she was in high school all of her friends would freak out on seeing it.
I don't like spiders, so at the end it gave me the heebie jeebies when "It" reveled itself as a sort of spider creature. But I realize it is only a movie.
It is okay to be afraid of things. You just have to learn how to face and deal with fear. You will be okay, I know.

I saw it when I was little as well. I always loved horror movies and even though they scared me, I never let it bother me. People think I'm nuts, but I have been watching them for as long as I can remember. People feel differently about scary movies. I'm sorry you are afraid of clowns, and it's nothing to be ashamed about.

Well that was smart of your parents you were only in second grade! That movie is the number one reason why younger kids are scared of that movie.I had friends that were 7 and they saw that movie and i had no clue what they were talking about because at that point i haven't seen that movie. When i did see that movie i didn't see what the big deal was maybe because i only watched parts of it because i was doing something else at the same time.I'm scared of that house of horrors at universal studios and I'm never going in their again! but its just something your going to avoid looking at for a while and its okay but there's gonna be that one time where you have to face your fear.

Oh yes girl! You are not alone! I've seen IT but if you are scared of the movie IT, I definitely wouldn't recommend u watching John Wayne Gacy, now that clown movie scared the heck out of me! I couldn't sleep at night! I have to have my sister go in the bathroom with me every time I needed to use it! Plus, that movie was based on true story! To me, It was scary but not as scary as John Wayne Gacy because the fact that was true! I know exactly where you coming from

Actually there is a clown phobia called Coulrophobia. Your not alone in your fear.
Here's a link that might help.
I think the reason that "IT" scared you is
1.. you were WAY to young to see that movie! (shame on your parents!)
2.. the children were the only ones in the movie who could SEE the clown and were the victims the clown, never an adult... at least not till the end..
hope that helps!

You are NOT alone. My daughter (now 17) walked in on me when I was watching Poltergeist...ever see the scary clown in THAT movie?? to this day, she hates clowns. What may help you is...the guy Tim Curry, that played Pennywise?..He was the hotel manager guy in Home Alone 2. (among other movies that you may be too young to see) Just a good actor.
Below is a pic of the clown I am talking about...in the second part of the movie, it looked more demonic...
