It's somewhere in between I think. I know for sure that most of us don't choose it, sweetie. It just is.

But maybe we weren't born gay. I'm not sure about that. But I'm gay and never chose to be. EVER.

If you remember anything, just remember that at least 90% of us who are gay, bi or lesbians, didn't choose to be. We just are.

Ask yourself these questions: Why would anyone choose something that would make them the object of scorn and persecution for the rest of their lives. Would you choose to be beaten up or even killed because someone doesn't like who you love? Would it bother you to have ignorant people condemn you to hell because of a misinterpretation of a bible verse written three thousand years ago? Is it OK by you that if you truly love someone you can't get married to that person in most countries on Earth? If you can answer yes to all of these questions then it might be a lifestyle choice.

Born gay.

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is innate and linked to biology and genetics.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation.

A study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Researchers found extreme differences between women who had gay sons and women who did not.

Another scientific study said that researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, but the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families. Anthony F. Bogaert, Ph.D., professor at Brock University, said "The research suggests that the development of sexual orientation is influenced before birth."

The older-brother effect was constant regardless of whether the men were raised with natural, adopted or stepbrothers. It also didn't matter if they weren't raised with their biological mothers. If gay younger brothers and older brothers don't have the same home environments, what do they have in common? "They shared the same uterus, the same womb, the same mother," Bogaert said.

First of all, being gay is not a "lifestyle." Would you call being straight a "lifestyle"?

As a gay man, I can tell you that I was born this way. Although you will find many heterosexuals telling you and us how we were born, how would they know? They're not gay.

When did you choose to be heterosexual? Or were you just always attracted to the opposite sex? We don't wake up and choose either. We are always attracted to the same sex.

I believe that some are born gay and others make a choice after having experienced something in their lives which made them inclined to seek the same sex for companionship and love. (For instance: being sexually abused as a child). I am friends with gay people who have made a choice and others who knew when they were very young children that they were gay.

Neither, at least not exactly. Anyone "making a choice" for it is not truly queer, but doing it for attention or out of spite.

There are certainly genetic dispositions we are born with, and the way we are raised can influence them. Either factor there means that NO CHOICE is involved for the person.

I was born Bi, but choice plays its roll as well. Because tho I am bi I still have morals and live by certain principles. I would carry the same principles with a woman as I would a man.

I believe everything is fine as long as it's done honorably.

I was born a lesbian...through my teens and early 20's I struggled with who I was, tried to fight it, then finally accepted who I am. This isn't a lifestyle, this is my life, who God made me... liking and desiring women came as naturally, and easy to me as liking and desiring men came for you. Why would anyone make a choice to be gay or lesbian...it's not a cakewalk, nor is it a game.

You are going to get a lot of opinions on this question. I strongly feel that it is a chosen lifestyle. Some males are born with feminine traits. Maybe it is because of the life they have lived that make them feel as they do about themselves and they find love where they can. Being laughed at and called sissy, constantly being made fun of and never fitting in would be the reason to seek something. For a man to do what he does to another man is nothing but perverted sex. Men use to do this with sheep when a woman wasn't available. They made do but today men are just curious and it is cheaper than being with a woman. Tight is the operative (ms?) word here.

You hear the expression, "heterosexuals don't choose to be straight, and homosexuals don't choose to be gay." And then they'll both say that bisexuals choose to be that way.... huh??

And what about identical twins.. If homosexuals are born that way then you'd expect that identical twins would always both be straight or both be gay.. They're not. If one twin is gay then the chances that the other identical twin is gay too is only 50%... Why?

By the way, pedophils are both that way too.

The answer is, science is still working on the answer.
