Sounds like it's overheating. If you are comfortable taking it apart, do so and clean out any dust bunnies. You might want to get one of those cooling stands, but putting your laptop on a hard flat surface (rather than your lap) is usually enough to cool it off. If all else fails, take it to a repair shop, they will clean it out for you.

It may be a problem with the motherboard, I've seen that once or twice here in my shop... But that's worst-case-scenario, so lets hope for the best...

Lets go ahead and hope that it is a software problem (virus, ect). You've got three hours with which to tackle this thing... So the first thing we're going to do is try to start up the laptop. As soon as it starts to load windows, hold the power button down for 10 seconds, untill the laptop shuts off... Now when you restart it you will have a few options of how best to get to windows. We want to boot to Safe Mode with Networking. Once you can see your desktop (which will appear after a window warning you that this is a speacil diagnostic mode of Windows), you will want to go online and run the free online virus scan at http://www.bitdefender.com and the free online malware scan at http://www.ewido.com - both of these scan from their websites and are perfectly safe. I've reffered customers to them countless times and I even use them myself if I'm in a tight spot.

Once their finished, you should go ahead and go to start -> programs -> accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup. Just let it do its thing - don't worry no harm will come. Once it is done go ahead and restart.

Now without taking it into a shop, you've done virtually all you can do, so start it back up, hope for the best, and try to get 5 hours out of it.

Good luck!

Are you using the power supply or just running it off battery power? Batteries only run about three hours before you have to recharge them.

Have you checked your batteries??? It takes about an hour to charge it up. Meanwhile use your AC adapter.
