Actually, it was only a small fringe of superstitious parents who questioned it.
Actually, the school board decided, without consulting any of the parents, ti introduce Intelligent Design as a viable alternative scientific theory to evolution.
The only problem is that ID is neither viable nor scientific.
If I remember correctly, there was a big fallout with the majority of parents over this, and a lot of the board members were forced out by those same parents for their ridiculous antics.
Oh yeah, they also lost in court, which basically ruled that ID is just another form of creationism.

I am not sure why Kansas parents are questioning Darwins application of the scientific method; however, I have attended Louisiana College (private Baptist college) and Andrews University (private Seventh Day Adventists university) and both schools teach evolution in their curriculum. It is true that many of the professors may view Intelligent Design as a viable adaptation of the theory, however that is not taught. It can be discussed in private discussions or class discussions.

Well evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape-like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered.
The honest scientist, like the philosopher, will tell you that nothing whatever can be or has been proved with fully 100% certainty, not even that you or I exist, nor anyone except himself, since he might be dreaming the whole thing.......

Kansas tried to have evolution removed form primary education. It failed. Last year the law and common sense won. Evolution is taught in Kansas public primary education now.
Yes, there are many determine religious people in Kansas that would prefer that all people remain ignorant and only follow the teachings of the Church.
They have a major obstacle. Public universities teach evolution in freshman biology classes. All freshman are required to take those classes. You are not ever gonna be able to force public universities to follow the rule of Christan fanatic's.
High school biology is a requirement for entree to most universities. If you did not take high school biology, or you took a biology course lacking evolution, you will be required to take a biology course. Most universities make this a requirement for a Bachelor degree.
So there is only one way you are not gonna get taught evolution in your biology classes in high school. You go to a private school.

Uh, if you have a question, you need to ask it; let us know what it is.
Evolution IS science (one part, there are others, such as physics).
Darwin's theory wasn't about "the scientific method" his theory was about evolution through the mechanism of natural selection.
There's TONS of evidence in support of this theory. It's accepted by all reasonable people.
Yes, there are a lot of ignorant idiots who refuse to accept it. And, unfortunately, they've had a lot of influence, in effect, preventing science from being taught in science classrooms.
So what, exactly, is your question, if any?

Don't let anyone confuse you. This is politics and politics alone. Evolution is sound science, but it goes against a religious doctrine. Politicians are quite willing to sacrifice the quality of education for a few votes.
