Talk to your cell phone company. Most sell cellular intrnet cards that use cell phone technology rather than wireless, so you don';t need to be near a hotspot.

you need to go with some sort of mobile internet provider... verizon or at&t currently offer the best in terms of prices and range of acess and so on. I have a friend who is always on the road and what they will give you is a card that will run off of the mobile network for cell phones and such and it will connect you to the net... problem is with some areas is that there will be drop out areas and there will be places where the internet is at full top speed and the other areas will be as slow if not slower then dial up... but at least you will have a constant line to the internet at all times while you are on the road.

Altell has a PCMCIA card that slides easily into the side of a laptop. It has a little antenna and a relatively low monthly bill, but basically, wherever you can get Cell Phone Signal - you can get some really fast internet. Hope that helps.

I'd suggest going with a wireless internet provider, these sevices can often be found through the same companies that offer cellular phone services.
