hey yall, I have a pretty, spacey, craft bowl in my room and I'd like to know what kind of fishes would be compatible for it. I don't want to hear how I need a 50 gallon fish tank with a heater, thermometer, &c. I just want to know what kind of fish would do well in it and how to take care of that fish properly. For example, maybe a cute little guppy or a goldfish?

Also, would a snail be able to go with [your suggested fish(es)]?

Thanks.

Oh please, don't listen to THEM.
I breed ghost shrimp, bettas, gold fishes, and guppies in bowls. And I have the same reason you do! I'm not driving 5 miles for some large fish tank and a heater. Although people say goldfishes are bad fishes to be put in bowls, I beg to differ. They won't dirty up the tank if you feed them properly and stuff. I have 5 gold fishes in a bowl. I got them from a carnival and they are about 4 years old. I just need to clean the bowl about twice a week. No biggie. Bettas are cool, too. They add that "zen" feeling to a room and they look freaking awesome! Except, their fins can get caught on stuff in your bowl, so don't put any sharp rocks and stuff. I personally adore ghost shrimp. They cost just as much as a goldfish, can eat their own waste, and are just overall unique! It's great fun watching them 'scamper' around the bowl. Plus, it's so easy to breed them. My fish guy gave me 10 shrimps to start out with and I had over 50! I had to buy so many bowls for them all, it wasn't funny! They are easy to care for and they live well with about every fish except a betta, cuz you know..bettas kill a lot of things. yeah, hope that helped you! Peace!

The only fish you could possible keep in a fishbowl and it lives for more than a month, is a betta and snails.

All other fish such as a guppy needs at least a 5g tank with a filter even though it is smaller, the reason is because the betta breathes air while the guppy needs oxygen in the water and that is what the filter is for.

Goldfish are kept in bowls but the reason they die in them is because they produce SO MUCH poop that the bowl bacteria cant handle it and the goldfish dies from his own filth.

Hi hi, As you don't want a 50 gallon tank in your room that definitely puts Goldfish out of the equation & certainly most other fish as well. You MAY be ok with a Betta but even so that bowl needs to hold at least 2.5 gallons so check it first & then do your research-the link below may be of some help.

No fish would be suitable unless you are going to clean it 3 times a week... then you could THINK about a Betta... but other than that, the only fish you could keep in that bowl would be Goldfish crackers... Bowls do not allow for oxygenation or the nitrogen cycle to occur, creating a buildup of toxic chemicals like ammonia. If you want something alive for your bowl, get some Ghost Shrimp and live plants... Avoid fish though because bowls are little death traps.

Snail, yes. Guppy or Goldfish, NO NO N o o o o!!!!

A betta is the only fish that can survive in a bowl. (Note, I said survive, not thrive.)

Everything but Bettas need filtration and an air pump.
Bettas do better with filtration and an air pump, but need heaters. They sell small ones at Walmart.

Bettas become super tame and make great pets.

Why not just fill the crafty bowl with crafty stuff? Less hassle and you don't have to worry about torturing innocent fish.

Sorry if you don't want to hear it, but just because you don't want to hear it doesn't make it any less true. You cannot keep ANY fish in an unfiltered bowl and have it stay healthy. I don't care if you don't like it, if you aren't mature enough to understand and accept it, you are not ready to take care of any live thing.

Keep a betta, they are beautiful and don't need any expensive equipments, just a heater, and you can get the walmart one for 10 dollars.

alll you need to do is water changes 3-4 times a week.

well, guppies need heaters and filtres

the best fish would be a gold fish or comet,

you can even try some mountain clouds (they are from Australia)

craft bowls aren't really good for keeping fish, you should upgrade to a tank
