A down to earth person puts others before themselves.
They seek to serve, rather than to be served.

They would rather be completely honest than take even a nanosecond to come up with a lie.

They may have a intelligence more brilliant than Einstein or a vocabulary that would make Shakespeare weep - yet they never talk down to anyone, and always listen more than they speak.

They are patient.

They work hard without ever complaining.

They are at peace with themselves... or at least work very hard at peace.

They are forgiving and kind to a fault.

By realising they are no better than anybody else. Sometimes a tragic event can do that or an illness, sometimes just growing up and realising they're not the center of the universe!

Being realistic about things. Especially of ones self. Not seeing themselves above others when they aren't. Or better or smarter or whatever.
