I know "The Office" is really popular, both British and American versions. I know they also made an American version of "Queer as Folk," although I'm not sure if people know the original is British...
I haven't heard of "Skins" but I don't watch TV so I'm not a reliable source...I think a lot of people who like British shows find them online on DVD's and watch them, they probably have some British shows on cable as well but I only have the standard channels plus BBC news.
