So, im 11 days over due, and in about a week my doctor said If nothing has worked shes going to put me on the drip, I haven't been trying much for labour except a ton of walking, pineapple, and sex. But I was curious as to the nipplestimulation using a breast pump, how would I go about this? Do you just pump until you feel a contraction? or is there a certain amount of time you should stop.
If so, how long on each breast? and will my milk supply still be fine when the baby comes? I won't get engorged?
Thanks!

well, breast simulation can bring on contractions even a nice massage from ur partner which is nicer for the both of u instead of a mechanical pump aide.
i am really not sure of breast pumps during pregnancy to bring on labour, you dont want to bring in milk now because your new born needs colostrum first not milk.
At the end of the day it is the fetus that secretes oxytocin(labour hormone) because its ready to be born. Your little one is not quiet ready yet!
have you tried raspberry leaf tea? apparantly its good for starting labour! i really hope you go into labour soon anyway by yourself and best of luck!

im not sure about the pumping thing but try to rub them..or have your husband do it..also try sitting on a birthing ball...it helps to open up your pelvic area..and also swinging works..it has to do something about the small amount of G's that help push the baby down..okay hope this helps...if not you could always ask your doc if you can drink some castor oil....good luck!!

They've done studies and some women have gone into labor that route but you pretty much just sit there and stimulate for hours at a time everyday and most just end up with really sore nipples.....

pumping is not necessary to start labor, just stimulation. grab some massage oil and just give a nice stimulating rub. a book i read also suggests using a warm wash cloth. it said to stimulate for about five minutes and see if anything happnes. if not stimulate some more in five minute intervals with about 20 minute breaks.

I heard you have to pump for 15 minutes every hour. I read that on this website but they could have been wrong. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt though if you have done everything else! also I heard taking castor oil induces your labor...but be sure to talk to your dr about that before hand.
good luck!!

do it like a million-2 minutes on the two factors and that they could initiate in 12-24 hours and while they do, get in a heat bath and walk, walk, walk. I did it and it have been given me to 3 a million/2 cm, yet my cervix become beside the infant's head and could no longer get any farther without my water being broke. solid success yet do no longer do it alot.

i would call your doctor. this seems like an iffy solution and most of the answers thus far have been kind of vague and iffy as well.
