In short: the word just means "bringer of light" and was just a bad translation of "morning star".

"Lucifer" is a name that appears once and only once in the entire Bible, and to this day people claim is the same as Satan and/or a fallen angel, even though there's absolutely NO indication in the Bible of either. This piece of mythology ultimately comes from the story "Paradise Lost" by John Milton.

The original Hebrew scriptures talk about a king in the book of Isaiah whose fall was like that of the morning star, namely the planet Venus (which looks like a bright star) "descending" on the horizon. The Hebrew word for this was "heyel". When St. Jerome first traslated the scriptures to Latin, he didn't know what word to use so he used "lucifer" which means "bringer of light". Then in the King James version of the Bible, the first letter got capitalized, giving "Lucifer".

Lucifer was a Roman god. He was known as the bringer of light and the morning star. Christians took this name for an angel in their mythology. He supposedly rebelled against God and was cast into Hell. The Christians believe that is evil because he rebelled and that he is the prince of lies. They say that he tries to tempt good people to do sins so that they will join him in Hell. However, they don't realize that he is the only angel with a Latin and not Hebrew name. Lucifer isn't evil. According to Roman mythology, he brought reason to humans and made them higher than animals.

Lucifer was actually an angel in heaven who tried to rebel and take it over and then Michael, another angel ( Saint Michael), battled with Lucifer and kicked him out of heaven. Then Lucifer created Hell, his own kingdom. Lucifer is another name for Satan aka The Devil himself!! That alone explains his evilness.

Lucifer is a fallen angel, he was God's most beautiful angel, but his pride and jealousy got the best of him. He wanted to be God, and he rebelled against God, convincing 1/3 of the other angels to rebel also. They were thrown out of heaven, and now rule the earth. This is the reason God created Hell as punishment for Satan and his demons, all those who worship Satan will take part in his hell. But be not deceived, because if you are not for God you are against God, therefore if you do not worship God you are worshiping Satan.

God's favorite angel. Lucifer wanted to be bigger than God and when he couldn't, he turned against him turning Lucifer in Satan/the Devil.

Fallen Angel who rebelled against God and tried to take over heaven. Spent many generations trying to tempt people to do wrong and oppose God and His law. Since he fought and opposed Supreme Goodness (God) that makes him evil, right?
