10 million is a small price to pay for one's identity and freedom.

My grand parents migrated to Pakistan at time of partition and were very poor. However, God has been kind on us Pakistanis and my parents worked hard. Today, thanks to God, most of us Pakistanis are richer of then they ever were before.

Pakistan was always separate from India. If there is any country which can lay claim on entire Pakistan (including Sindh and Punjab), it would be Afghanistan or vice versa (Pakistan claiming Afghanistan) on basis of their culture and religion.

Every now and then I hear, from non Pakistanis that Pakistanis are similar to Indians and blah blah. Reality is quite different. It is as if one was comparing Persians to Arabs or Arabs to Turks.

Don't go by our looks, obviously majority of Pakistanis, like their Indian counterparts, belong to the same race (desi) however, this is where our similarity ends. Definitely some cultural traditions are similar but even they have differences in the way and intensity of conduct.

Looks, culture, religion & language. is this all what people are bothered about? People simply fail to understand a simple fact that first of all, we all belong to one single race known as humanity. True, 10million lives is not at all a small price to pay for freedom & identity but then, if thats so, why are they not following the policy of LIVE & LET LIVE ? & greatest truth being, India has never considered any religion different. & as to why Pakistan was created, its very clear as some say, for name & fame.

Before British rules, most of the rulers were muslims. They had all the wealth with them even after the British rule. After independence the more experienced people in administration, might claim opportunity in Government. Even based on population they were equal in numbers.

In a democratic setup Muslims can not be avoided in government. They cannot be suppressed like the backwards and harijans. The only way is to isolate them. If it is a violent process, it is easy to rob their properties an money. Religious riot gave the opportunity to get multiple results.

Everything worked fine. But we ended up spending more than we gained during the partition, every year until today.

During India's first war of Independence in 1857, Hindus and Muslims joined hands and fought with shoulder to shoulder. The wily Britain which had lost the American colonies, then, wanted to hold the sub-continent as its principal colony. So Britishers hit upon the policy of "Divide them and rule over them"!
Thus, they wooed the Hindus first and dispossessed and deprived the Muslims.Subsequently, when the Hindu majority started demanding freedom, they dropped them and became cozy with Mussalmans!
It is alleged that indirectly they supported the Hindu fanatic movements to keep Muslims under check. The fanatic groups spread canard against muslim invaders, Mughals, and muslim leaders. They created
communal clashes over slaughter of cows during Bakrid!
The congress leaders did their best to keep up the Hindu-Muslim unity, but the fanatics were slowly gaining ground.Their
leader Veer Savarkar used to sing that Hindustan is for Hindus and not for others!
At that time Jinnah decided to join the Muslim League and fight for a separate homeland for Muslims. The British Govt. which had assured such a homeland for jews in Palestine in 1917, where hamstrung!
During World War II, Congress leaders launched"Quit India Movement" and the Britsh raj threw behind bars all top congress leaders(1942-45).
After the end of the war, the raj weighed the pros and cons of retaining the colony of India and decided to go while going was good. So it started series of talks with congress and League leaders.
In Aug.1946, Jinnah announced the
"Direct action", which turned East Bengal into a theatre of unprecedented communal carnage.Next, the whole country was on fire.
The British who put out the sepoy rebellion in1857,intiriguingly, proved hapless !
So, the nation caught in carnage , was divided and India left free!
It is strange that people find fault with Gandhi, Nehru and Jinnah, but do not , for a moment, consider the villainous role played by stokers of communal passion.
Thus,Pakistan was not 'created', but got 'evolved'due to misguided acts of some.

Due to cowardness of Congress politicians to accede to the threat of Jinnah to spread a civil war through terrorism.

"Either We Will Divide India or We Will Destroy India"

These were the famous words of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

to my understanding, pakistan use to be part of british occupied india. when the british left, the minority muslim indian population inside india didnt like the idea of being ruled by hindu indians, because they had a different culture, different religion, feared of becoming slaves and wanted to have a country of their own. areas of india that had majority muslim populations effectively became west pakistan and east pakistan (todays bangladesh).
