American female here. I consider infant/child circumcision of either sex to be child abuse. We don't allow female circumcision for religious reasons, so why do we need to allow it for boys? If the boy wants to be circumcised as a sign of his religion when he reaches adulthood, fine. But nobody can be sure what religion he is going to choose when he is old enough to make that choice, so why should parents have the right to cut part of his body off to show that he believes in something that he may not actually end up believing in?

NOBODY has the right to mutilate another person's body when that person is too young to give consent unless there is a medical reason that can't wait until adulthood to be fixed. So, yes, if the foreskin has a cancerous growth on it (extremely rare), chop it off regardless of age. But if the foreskin is healthy, parents and religious/hospital personnel have no business messing with it.

To permanently alter a boy's genitals because YOU think it looks cuter is seriously sick! Morally it's not your choice to make for another person. And many of us think that a butchered penis is not "cute" at all.

The cleanliness thing is garbage. 85% of the men in the world have foreskins, and nearly all of them manage to keep clean with nothing more complicated than soap and water. And if you think your son is going to go to Africa and have unprotected sex with HIV-positive prostitutes, you should educate him, not mutilate him.

OK, I'm not American, but I am, and there do seem to be a few of them out there. Not enough, but it's mostly because they don't understand and have never researched it.

mpaz1966 - what a sick woman - "I don't care for sex with an uncircumcised man and it doesn't look all that good either." - your opinion but when are you going to be having sex with your son, or admiring his penis? Never! You should have let him decide what feelings and looks he prefers. Uncircumcised men will get girlfriends who are less shallow than yourself, and how do you know your son's future partners will have your same views? You forced your surgically-enabled standards of beauty on an independent being. It just like Daddy saying "I prefer a woman who is smooth down there, all my daughters will be getting laser treatment so they never grow pubic hair". Can you say SICK?!

I am an American woman and I had my son circumsized. I found out I was having a baby boy and that was that, it was just an automatic decision. That is the only alteration I approve of for infants.

I'm a Aussie male and I think any genital alteration should be banned in all countries. It is not medically required in 95% of cases so is just cosmetic surgery. (as in male and female circumcision.)

I am because they can make mistakes when they circumcise and they do not give pain medication and they do it when the baby is awake. I think it is a awful thing to do to a newborn. The doctors and religious people should leave our children the way god made them.

Ok, either i'm not understanding your question or else no one else is... if you are talking about boys becoming girls and vise ver.. then that is not right for you as parents to choose.. but if you are talking about curcumsizing.. that is a health risk.. if a male is not cut it will cause the male to have several infections in there gental... No, i'm am not against a male gettin a ccs.. But the other i am..

My son in uncut and pure is! I am as vehemently against gential mutilation of boys as I am for girls. God made all of us perfect and there is not need to cut any part of us off for the sake of religion, cleanliness or pleasure.

I am, now that I have learned about RIC and how it is done.

If I were to ever have another baby and it were a boy, I want him to stay intact.
