there are male bettas and female bettas
male bettas are more commonly sold because until recently females only came in dull colours and were not very sellable.
Now females come in as many colours as males do so you can see them is stores. Females have short fins males have long flowing ones
Hope it helps!

My entire uneducated, had bettas(lady and male) yet no longer an authority wager, i might say male. One, using deep coloring, the girls could be brightly colored like that, yet i do no longer remember seeing a woman that blue before. and that i understand there's a team of categories of bettas, however the fins below, they pass all of the till now to the tail fin-sounds like 2 seperate fins there. My lady betta in user-friendly terms has one below-which returned, could be a diverse type. Fish sounds like that's majorly better from the 1st 2 photos-good activity!! undesirable difficulty, substitute into it a Walmart rescue by hazard?

There are male bettas. And there are female bettas. The male bettas are larger and have the longer, more colorful fins. The female betta is smaller, the fins are shorter, and less colorful than the male.

Well, individually, they are either one or the other - they aren't capable of changing their gender as are some species of fish. And there are both male and female bettas. Usually it's fairly easy to tell them apart, since males have longer fins, but there are some short-finned males, so you can't always go but this feature alone. Nor can you go only by color, because there are some very colorful females. The best way to tell them apart is to use several characteristics and see which sex is indicated most often. Here are some of the characteristics used, and photos: http://www.flippersandfins.net/faq.htm#malefemale

True, Bettas are either males, or they are females... they are not hermaphroditic.

True

Additional Comments:

Looks like everyone else is failing the test. On a true or false question the answer should be either true or false. No explanations needed.

There are both, the males are often refered to as siamese fighting fish, thier attractive colored fins like many species of animals show dominance. Females are smaller and do not have the large fins as do the males.
