I am currently 11 weeks pregnant with my fisrt child. I had morning sickness that seems to have calmed down as of this past Tuesday. My clothes have been snug for a couple of weeks due to water weight gain but literally overnight, none of my clothes fit. I am talking about a 3 inch gap between buttons. I was not a small person to start with. The thing is that I have not gained any weight ( I have actually lost about 6 pounds). Is this normal?

Yes, it's weird but normal.

Your uterus can stretch and grow causing your stomach to stick out, and yet you won't see pounds to go along with it, esp. if you have been having morning sickness.

After the 12th week you'll finally start to notice steady weight gain. I usually lose 6-10 pounds in my first trimester.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant right now and I'm already starting to fit into some maternity clothes because my tummy is sticking out. Yet I got on the scale and I've gained only 1 pound over my pre-pregnancy weight. I think part of your tummy size might also have to do with bloating - I am still having that problem no matter what I eat.

Between morning sickness and eating healthier, it's normal for you to lose some weight. I had the same problem- one day I just couldn't fit into my clothes. I'd bought 2 pairs of shorts that I figured would get me through most of the summer, but a week after buying them, they didn't fit. I tried the rubber band trick for a while until I eventually figured out that maternity clothes felt a million times more comfortable. When you go for your next visit, ask about your weight loss. I was concerned about my lack of weight gain and was assured it was okay. I've only gained around 4 pounds total, and I'm 22 weeks along! However, I LOOK 22 weeks pregnant. :) If you're overweight, you won't need to gain as much weight anyway. Talk to your doctor about it. Chances are, you'll feel much better once you do.
Congrats!

I actually lost 10 lbs in my 4th month, but was wearing maternity pants since about 3 months along... my total weight gain so far has been a whopping 12 lbs and I am due on the 16th . Youre stomache is expanding whether you gain weight or not just because youre little one will need the room so don't worry it is completely normal!

Yes, you're normal.

A lot of women lose weight in their first trimester (mostly from morning sickness), and at the same time they experience bloating that makes their tummy bigger and their pants uncomfortably tight.

Now might be the time to look into getting some maternity pants (I promise there are really cute ones out there), or try "rubber band trick" for a while. That's where you loop a rubber band or hair tie through your button hole on your pants and hook it to the button. That buys you an extra inch or two of breathing room...just be sure to wear a long shirt to cover it up :)

best wishes

yeah it is. it's just that your weight has moved around. i have only gained 3 pounds and all of it within the last couple of weeks and i haven't been able to fix my clothes for quite a while. i went down to 119 from 124 and i still couldn't fit my clothes now i'm up to 127 which normally wouldn't make any difference and i still don't fix my clothes. usually it's normal to go up or down a few pounds and still be able to wear your clothes but when your pregnant your body changes and your weight is moved around that is why they don't fit anymore.

i wouldnt have thought so but my sister is also pregnant, shes just over 12 weeks and she also says that she as lost some weight.. she as been to the doctors and for a scan and they have told her than everything looks ok, so i dont think you should worry too much, however you should see a doctor just to be sure, this is what ive told my sister. its better to be safe than sorry. another thing though.. she isnt that much of a big eater and eats very little, so i thought that might have something to do with it. but aslong as your eating well. good luck!
