This is definitely illegal and hard to get away with IF you get the wrong INS agent, i.e., one who is actually doing his job. I had a friend do this a few years ago in Florida, they had to provide all KINDS of proof that they actually are in love and carrying on a committed relationship, more than just photos of them together...receipts from grocery shopping showing purchases for two rather than "single-person" type shopping, interviews with friends, family (that was the tough one, she hadn't really told her family much), as well as with her employers, both their names on everything (cars, utilities, rent, benefits). You really have to be married to the person with more than just papers to convince INS. And I think you have to stay marriend for 7 years. Not sure about that though. Ironically, I have an Aunt-in-law who actually got married for love, and their INS agent barely even looked them up to see if it was real. Maybe they can smell the fakers? As far as should you say anything, I would say something to the effect of "I care about you and want to make sure you are going into this with all the information you need, so that you don't run into legal trouble later." There are other ways to immigrate. You might also suggest calling an immigration lawyer. Many will answer questions over the phone for free, or have paralegals who are very knowledgable who will also answer questions. Good luck to your friend!

This is no different from a mail-order bride bring brought in for an American man. It is legal, however the paper work must be filled out correctly, as immigration will go through the paperwork and if they find that she's not getting married for the right reasons and only to obtain a green card they wont allow the citizenship to happen. Plus i heard something that they need to stay married for a year before it becomes official.

You might want to warn her against it because once immigration finds out (and they will) your friend will be deported, their passport confiscated and they will never be allowed into the U.S. again. For the idiot dumb enough to marry your friend they will be charged with frauding the government and be arrested and put into federal prison. Once they get out of prison they will be lucky if they can get a job in fast food since most employers don't hire convicted felons.

Why bother ... There's no use they'll deny it.. The only thing you can do is contact immigration on them and doing that is like asking a crackhead for directions ... Trust me I've been threw immigration in 2 countries .. Its not worth the time and the $2.70 a minute

no, leave it alone. Unless he or she is here to do something harm full to others just let it go. I know ppl who have done that to get citizenship and most are just trying to find a better life and contribute to our country in a positive manner.
This issue wasnt hot until bush started messing up in Iraq they (the government) does this crap to distract the American ppl from concentrating on the mess ups of their actions.
